Content
If you have a Level 5 or higher qualification in nursing or a health-related field and you'd like to extend your knowledge or specialise in a particular area, this part-time programme enables you to use your existing knowledge and experience as a Registered nurse to develop your career in an area of expertise.
Most courses are delivered either as a three or five-day block course, although online options are also available.
Registered nurses can begin courses immediately after graduating. A number of courses are available, including; gerontology, cardiac nursing, cardiothoracic nursing, critical care nursing, medical nursing, surgical nursing, wound management, oncology, palliative care, rural nursing and mental health. Other courses available include the management of diabetes, medical high dependency nursing, pain management and ECG rhythm analysis.
You have the choice of completing the full programme, or selected courses within it. On successful completion this programme (60 credits) you will gain the Graduate Certificate in Nursing Practice, and appropriate selection of courses can result in a Graduate Certificate endorsed with a specialisation.
Credit recognition
Credit Recognition may be available for this programme. If you’ve previously completed study in this area please contact the relevant academic department for cross credit/credit transfer options. If you’ve gained related skills and knowledge through work experience, talk to our Centre for Assessment of Prior Learning about Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
